Ride Summary

With a corner ratio of 80%, this 18 kilometer stretch of road between Toolangi and Kinglake is well-maintained and has an excellent bitumen grip, allowing very fast corner speeds. Traffic comes at a rate of an average one car every 5 minutes, and the road surface is smooth and without bumps.

Ride Description

This spacious and scenic route is located very close to Melbourne, and so is extremely popular with motorcyclists – although it is so pleasant that it will probably flash by all too fast. The superb bitumen quality lets you handle curves with ease, especially since most of the bends are broad and sweeping. The road’s smoothness and wide dimensions give you plenty of room for dynamic motorcycling.

The scenery through which the road passes is hilly, and clad in a mix of eucalyptus and semi-rainforest vegetation. Since the road surface is good enough to make you fairly safe, you will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the surroundings as well.

Best Thing About This Ride

The best thing about the Mount Slide Road ride is the endless series of grand, sweeping curves combined with the fine quality of the road surface, although the scenery is pleasant as well.

What Else To Look Out For

During a heavy rainfall, mud tends to wash down from the hillslopes onto the road surface, making parts of the road slippery and hazardous. You should exercise caution if you are planning a ride a day or two after a rainstorm.
