Ride Summary

This 32 kilometre ride has a corner ratio of 80%, but thanks to the nature of the swerves, corner speeds are fast to very fast. Cars are encountered every five minutes. The bitumen grip is excellent and the road lacks bumps.

Ride Description

The road between Whittlesea and Kinglake West is open and wide, with multiple lanes and sweeping corners that you can turn at exciting speeds. The terrain through which the road passes at this point varies between lightly-forest clad hills to thick forest crowding up to the roadside.

After Kinglake West, both the road and the terrain change. The surface is still excellent, but the road is now a winding series of interesting corners, with the occasional short straightaway thrown in for variety. The trees overhang the road for most of the way, so that you travel inside a rustling green tunnel of vegetation.

All in all, this is an excellent ride favored by many motorcyclists.

Directions

Whittlesea, sited some 40 kilometers north of Melbourne, is reached easily by Plenty Road. Follow the road that leads out of Whittlesea through Kinglake West to Flowerdale.

What Else To Look Out For

On this road with its open, sweeping curves, superb grippy bitumen, and relatively low rate of traffic, there is nothing to watch out for beyond the usual.
