A great ride between the two lakes, ride departs Tekapo and heads south along highway 8 towards the adventure capital that is known as Queenstown.
A popular ride that takes in the manificent scenery that NZ and the South Island are renowned for. Road conditions are on the whole very good. Highlights include Lake Pukaki and the ride through Lindis Pass and Lindis Valley.
Break up your trip and stop along the way, there is plenty to see and do in this region including fishing in the lakes, hiking and winter sports in the season. A popular side trip is the lakeside town of Wanaka.
Depart Tekapo and head south along Highway 8 towards Twizel and later Cromwell. Road turns south-west as you get nearer to Queenstown.
Best Thing About This Ride
The fresh mountain air and the ride through Lindis Pass.
What Else to Look Out For
Like a lot of the rides in the South Island, the best times to travle are during the warmer months outside the weeks of school holidays.
