Ride Summary

Just 16 kilometers long, the Old Chum Creek Road features a 90% corner ratio, with corner speeds being fair. You can expect to meet a car once every 10 minutes. The bitumen grip is good, though the road surface sports the occasional bump.

Ride Description

A close cousin to Myers Creek Road, Old Chum Creek Road also passes through the Paul’s Range, ascending the side of that land feature beside Old Chum Creek itself. The road is an excellent one for motorcyclists, with Melbourne riders seeking it out due to the constant left-right swervery it requires, combined with a fine road surface in most places and good terrain.

This excellent ride is a bit higher than Myers Creek Road, and so passes through a blend of eucalyptus forest and semi-rainforest. Its riding action is similar to the Reefton Spur, but conveniently closer to the city. Like Myers Creek Road, it is also reached via the Maroondah Highway.

Directions

The Old Chum Creek Road branches off on the left side of the Maroondah Highway in Healesville, just short of the town’s center. Healesville’s location is 60 kilometers east-northeast of the central business district of Melbourne.

What Else To Look Out For

Other than a few bumps here and there, the Old Chum Creek Road is basically free of motorcycling problems.
