Charles ClarkeRide Summary
A great run for a day out on the bike, this ride takes you through Eildon, Yea, Kinglake and St Andrews.
Ride Description
Starting and finishing in Malvern. This ride starts with a bit of suburban riding through Ashburton to warm up, the next destination is the base of the Dandenongs on the way to Healesville. A transit over the Black Spur to Taggetty and cross country to Thorton is the stepping stone to a coffee and potential feed in Eildon. From Eildon it out on Skyline towards Fraser National Park, a side trip through Taylor Bay and Spade cove in worth the effort except in mid Summer and Easter when this narrow road gets to busy to be enjoyed.
From Fraser National Park its straight into Alexandra and onto Yea. Yea through to the turn off to Kinglake is beatuiful but relatively boring… From Kinglake take the road to Hurstbridge and marvel at the best fun that can be had under 60Km/h… a multitude of 25km/h corners. Even if you come across a cage going slowly, just stop and have a breather….
Head through to Eltham then cut across to Doncaster and the Eastern Fwy down to Chandler Hwy and the cut across Kew and Hawthorn back to Malvern…
Recommended fueling in Healesville and Eltham (approximately 220Km between fuel). It is possible to fuel at Lilydale if your bike can easily cover 250Km+ betwen fuel…
