Ride Summary

This 56-kilometre-long length of road boasts a corner ratio of 95%, and corner speeds ranging from fair to medium. The bitumen grip is good but the surface is bumpy. Cars are encountered at a rate of one every 10 minutes.

Ride Description

This is a former back road to Bruthen which was widened to accommodate logging trucks. It is still narrow, but provides a good twisty motorcycle ride through forested land. There are many black wallabies in this area because of the landscape. The road is hard work but is still a decent ride if you are in the area. Orbost, a logging town bypassed by the highway, can give you lodging at one of two large, aging pubs. There are also two bakeries that open at 8 o’clock in the morning.

Directions

Another town east of Melbourne, Orbost is 360 kilometres distant. It is reached by following Princes Highway to Bairnesdale.

Best Thing About This Ride

The twisty roads of this route are its main draw for motorcyclists.

What Else To Look Out For

There is fine sand on many of the corners, which makes them somewhat less grippy and can also tend to distract you from your driving, which can be dangerous. .
