Ride Summary

Another very popular ride with Brisbane riders, and a great ride to continue on a day’s of riding if you have first tackled The Gap to Mt Nebo motorbike ride.

Ride Description

The road that joins Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious (Ie. the Mount Glorious Road) is undoubtedly one of the best roads for riding within close proximity of Brisbane, and with a variety of rides in this region to make a day of it, it is a must-do when either living in Brissy or visiting this area.

The ride itself is a great combination of technical sections (with low recommended speed limits) and faster sweeping corners. From my perspective the best way to enjoy this ride is to first ride The Gap to Mt Nebo, and then continue along the Mount Glorious Road to Mt Glorious. You can then descend the mountain down through the D’agiuilar State Forest along the Northbrook Parkway before turning around and enjoying Mt Glorious again – but this time up the mountain from the D’agiuilar State Forest side. It is from this direction heading back up the mountain that the road is really something special.

Directions

Ride begins from Mt Nebo along the Mount Glorious Road towards Mt Glorious, and then down the mountain along the Northbrook Parkway.

Best Thing About This Ride

The ride’s proximity to Brisbane and the wide variety of good roads in this region. The high speed ride along the Northbrook Parkway section is also great fun.

What Else To Look Out For

Being close to Brisbane has its downsides and the popularity of this road can be overwhelmingly at times. My advice is to get up early and avoid the crowds particularly if riding on the weekend. The police of course also know this, so watch your speed even when riding early. Other word of caution is that tree debris and damp patches on the road are common.
