Ride Summary

A Glasshouse Mountain tour of 81km beginning just outside Brisbane heading north to Dayboro, Samsonvale, Mt Mee and on to D’Aguilar. A great ride and well worth getting up early for to miss the traffic.

Ride Description

Leaving north of Brisbane via the Samford Hwy toward Dayboro, this ride quickly enters into green surrounds of the forests and through the small town of Samford Village and on towards Dayboro which is mostly through open farm country.

Continuing on past Samsonvale, the ride passes into the Glasshouse Mountains (note Mt. Kobble on the left). The remaining 35 km to D’Aguilar has every possible kind of road surface, cuts, corners, and crests. The first 12kms or so before reaching Mt. Pleasant are especially fun with brilliant linking corners following one after the other. This road has often been called motorbike heaven, though watch out for the poor road surface in some areas. Gravel patches are not uncommon.

The ride finishes up in teh town of D’Aguilar, where there is good pub food and a regular for passing riders.

Directions

Just north of Brisbane, head north/northwest on the Samford Highway through the towns of Dayboro, Samsonvale, Mt Mee, before finishing up at D’Aguilar.

Best Thing About This Ride

The ‘no picture frame’ view of the open expanses, the wind in the face freedom of the open road, and the sense of satisfaction for making the trip without ‘losing it’ even once.

What Else To Look Out For

On the road from Samford Village to Dayboro, there is often tree debris as well as plenty of wildlife. You might find holes in the road and loose gravel along the final stretch.
