Ride Summary

Longish ride taking in some great roads of NW Brisbane from Brisbane to Bundaberg via Kingaroy.

Ride Description

This ride is an adventurous 400-ish km journey that takes you from Brisbane via Esk, Nanango, Kingaroy, Goomeri, Ban Ban Springs, Biddenden, Childers and Bundaberg through some of the best wiggly roads of the NW Brisbane area. The return journey to Brisbane can be taken on the Bruce Hwy and is around 360km.

Directions

Leaving Brisbane you head to Esk via the Brisbane Valley Way, then onto Nanango and west to Kingaroy. North to Goomeri via Wondai, then north again via the Burnett Hwy to Ban Ban Springs. Now we go east to Biggenden via the Isis Hwy, and onto Childers (still on the Isis). Your choice of either following then Isis into Bundaberg, or via Goodwood Rd (the one less travelled). That’s it. Overnight at Bundaberg, or straight back down the Bruce Hwy to Brisbane.

Best Thing About This Ride

Takes you over some pretty of the best twisties and open country in SE Qld. Can be done in one day but it’s a big ride. Off the beaten track, so not a lot of traffic.

What Else to Look Out For

Best done in cooler months (i.e. May-September). Some of the roads have been flood affected in 2011 (could be roadworks and/or detours). Bruce Hwy on the return is OK but watch out for speed traps.
