Ride Summary

Great back country road. Alternative to Brown Mountain. Often shared with noone but the trees and birds and your friends.

Ride Description

You will often have this region to yourself. Some great views can be had to the coast and it is a nice piece of road. It is a great alternative to coming up the highway or going down Brown Mountain via Bega. This ride can be included in a trip from Cooma or even Canberra to the South Coast.

Directions

Heading south out of Bombala in SE NSW on the Monaro Highway travel 28km’s to locality Rockton turn left onto the Mt Imlay Road. You can also come in from Canne river to the south. This road is used by logging trucks during the week so keep this in mind. This road takes you 58 K’s down through the escarpment to the Prince’s Highway at Narrabarba at the other end.

Best Thing about This Ride

Great piece of road. Usually often no one around. Plent of twisty bits and some good straights.

What Else to Look Out For

Gravel on the road where lots of trucks turn out of the forest. Little critters like wallabies once you are in the denser forest.
