While at Peterborough, you will have to go through several roundabouts when you arrive at Bourne which is roughly half of the journey to Lincoln.

Directions

Start from Rivergate A15 as you head south towards Embarnkment Rd and keep right at the Fork. Also make sure that you stay on Rivergate A15 which will take you to the first roundabout, stay on the exit that takes you through the A15. You will also go through nine more roundabouts before you arrive at Bourne.

This ride is characterized by very long roads. There are some others which are straight where as others are not. Consider Somersham road B1040 as the starting point.

Directions

Your point A will be Somersham Rd at Cambridge, UK where the distance would be 61.5 km (verify please)from St Ives to Crowland. You will go through several roundabouts until you get to Needingworth by taking the second exit stay on route A1123 until you turn left onto Needingworth Rd and later left Onto Meadow Ln which will take you through roundabout and into Harrison way. You will make a lot of turns as you get through Hemingford Grey; just make sure you read the sign posts well.

According to a report in India’s Economic Times, the country is planning on adding two big biking events to their line up next year, with MotoGP and the Superbike World Championship likely to make their way to the country in 2013. These are two of the top racing events in the world and it should be a huge boost to the country if they are indeed held here. As well as these, India will be the last host of the GT1′s 2012 season, with a race held in the country in December of this year.

March 2013 is likely to be the month that will see the first race of the Superbike World Championship held in India and an official of the Jaypee Group has said that this will probably take place in the first week. Managing director and chief executive officer of Jaypee Sports International, Sameer Gaur, has said that while India only has five months of good weather in which to hold these races, they want to accommodate all of them.

MotoGP is also likely to be held in India in March 2013 and all will take place at the Buddh International Race Circuit. This circuit was built in order to hold India’s first Formula Once race last October, it is 5.14 km long and is located in Greater Noida. Since it hosted the F1 race, the track has played host to auto companies such as Yamaha, Ferrari, Hyundai and Toyota. Many different events have been organised by various corporates as well, all in aid of producing revenues for the location. It will be an exciting year for India if they do indeed secure these events, as well as the racing community in general.

The journey takes you through amazing scenery. As you come out of the village, you enter an open blast of slightly curved countryside road. The road gets steep at some point in the journey, and there are different speed limits in different areas.

Directions

The journey commences at Barton Le Clay and ends at Hitchen. Take the B655 towards Hitchen, out of Barton and come to an open countryside after the village. As you come up, there is a nice bend on the right, which takes you to Hexton. At this point, the speed limit is 40mph since you are going through a village. The road becomes steep as you exit Hexton, coming to beautiful scenery of trees. The road drops and rises again before sowing to a sharp left-hander. The road now enters a rough tarmac leading you to a series of fast lefts and then rights, finishing with a sharper left.

Ride Description

The road is smooth and fast with some great corners at speed to be had.

Directions

The starting point of this ride is Bedford, and it concludes at Higham Ferrers. From Bedford take the A6 and head north to Clapham. Continue going up the A6 towards Higham Ferrers then turn right to get on the B645. Follow the sign to St Neots, go through Kimbolton and then look out on the right for the B660, a way down. This will take you back to where you started your ride.

Ride Description

The route is part of a longer great ride from A507 to A4012. The road has a number of bends that are wide open. Most of them can be taken at a decent speed but a few of them will require caution or otherwise they will take you out. The route also has various towns and villages along the way so it is important to respect the speed limits and avoid irritating the local people.

Directions

Begin the journey at Flitwick and take the A5120 to finish at Sewell. If you do not wish to do the whole distance, you can reach as far as A6 on the Clophill roundabout and then go back. Alternatively, you can also get on to the A5120 by coming off the A507 via Flitwick and to Houghton Regis.

“Sky Dive the Beach” will land in the Park with a large MS Flag to kick off the event.

The route will take you up Macquarie Pass, along Tourist Rd, through Bowral, before stopping at Berrima for light refreshments.

From Berrima, riders will go through Suttons Forest – Moss Vale – Kangaroo Valley – Down to Bomaderry taking the return run through Berry – Kiama – Jamberoo to finish at Albion Park RSL.

Generally low traffic. Good rest/break points along the way to choose from: Tarago Pub, Wakefield Park, Goulburn, Gundaroo Pub.

The Old Hume Highway has some excellent sweeping bends and virtually no traffic at all.

What Else To Look Out For

There’s 5 or 6 patches of gravel on the Old Hume Hwy (~5m each). Nothing major to worry about, they are all on straights.

Road condition of the Old Hume Hwy is slowly deteriorating due to no maintenance and heavy trucks in the area.

Watch the weather radar/forecasts. Nice warm/sunny day when you head off can easily become near zero between Tarago and Goulburn.

A short hour motorcycle ride along one of Sydney’s most popular roads for bike and car enthusiasts.

Ride Description

One of the most popular roads near Sydney, this motorcycle ride takes in beautiful scenery, challenging roads and lots of places to stop and just take in the moment.

Directions

Heading South out of Sydney, take a left into the Royal National Park at Loftus. The road is twisty but can be treacherous and deceiving. Watch speed warning signs, this road has more motorcycle crashes than any other road in Australia, this statistic probably also reflects how often it is used by riders. Stop for a break at Bald Face (everybody does), and chew the fat with some other bikers. Then down the hill and along the coast road which takes in the Seacliff Bridge. At the far end of the coast road, a right turn up Bulli Pass returns you to the Princes Highway, North or South, you choose, but keep the rubber side down.

Introducing the first annual Newstead Automotive Swap Meet, taking place on Saturday the 25th & Sunday the 26th of February 2012 (last weekend in February). We started pulling the Newstead Swap together 3 months ago to fill the gap when Ballarat was canceled.

The Swap Meet will be held at the Newstead Racecourse, on the same site as the ‘Chopped Rod & Custom’ festival in Central Victoria. With the Newstead Swap located on a fantastic 90 acre plot, the space is there for it to build into ‘the swap to be at’. Other attractions include a ‘Chrome Bumper Show’n’Shine’ and and on site ‘Bar’ with music, along with good home-style food vendors.

Ride Description

In 1964 the Tasmanian government built, what was to become, one of the best motorcycling roads in Australia. The road itself starts at Maydena and heads east navigating past Lake Pedder and finally finishing at Gordon Dam, a 450 ft high wall that holds back 12 sq km of water used to spin three turbines powering 13 % of Tassies power needs. Built to construct and service the Dam, the road itself winds through Rugged mountain ranges and descends into heavily wooded ancient forests, spectacular landscapes tempt you to ease off the throttle at every escarpment to record the moment albeit momentarily before shifting your weight to attack the next change of direction. The smell of moist eucalypt forests only enhances your senses and encourages you to ride on forever. Traffic lights and slow moving cars become a distant memory as you reach the dam wall only too soon . The short break is well worth it, the 72 km return becomes a new road.

Head east along the Gorden River Road (B61) towards Strathgorden.

An enjoyable days ride from Liverpool, through Camden to the Southern highlands. Good roads and picturesque scenery. Plenty of places to stop for a coffee.

Ride Description

A great way to spend a weekend ride day (or better yet if you can get out during the week and avoid the crowds, even better). Ride begins in Liverpool, west of Sydney and heads south down the Hume before turning off the main highway and on to interesting roads towards Camden and Picton.

Directions

Camden Valley Way to Camden, follow Old Hume Hway over Razor Back into Picton. Take turnoff to Thrilmere and follow through to Bowral. Follow signs to Kangaroo Valley and turn left when at the Illawarra highway. Follow this to Burrawang turn off and follow to Wilds Meadow. Follow the sign to Belmore Falls. Enjoy the view. Stop at the Robertson Pie shop on the way back.

A great motorbike ride through the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales.

Ride Description

Awesome ride along arguably one of Australia’s greatest motorcycling roads. Ride is affectionally known as the “Snowy Ride”.

Directions

Starting from Adaminaby head along the Snowy Mountains Highway to Kiandra. You can stop here and take in some of the history of the old Kiandra gold fields. Turn left onto The Link Road and on to Cabramurra. Stop here for a coffee and see the highest town in Australia. Then take Snow Ridge Road over Tumut Ponds and Tooma dams, and some of the best scenery and twisty bits in the mountains to Khancoban and then on to the magnificant Thredbo Valley. Take in a chair ride to the top of Australia or continue on to The Wild Brumby Distillery and grab a top bite and sample some of Brad’s famous Schnapps. A quick hoot into Jindabyne and then on to Berridale. Turn left on to Middlingbank road, a great back country road. At the other end turn left and rejoin the Snowy Mountains Highway and head back into Adaminaby. Stay the night at, bike friendly, Snowy Mountains Motel. You have just completed the best “Ride around the Block” in Oz.

Some of the best roads in Australia. Ask anyone who has done the “Snowy Ride”. Almost NO traffic or other “nasties”. Magnificant scenery.Do it one run if you’re up to it or stop as often as you like and just take it in.

A looping ride through the beautiful Kangaroo Valley in NSW.

Ride Description

This ride joins up two other popular rides through the Kangaroo Valley region of NSW.

Directions

The ride starts at Albion Park, up thru Macquarie Pass to the famous Robo Pie Shop. (there are usually lots of bikes up there on a weekend). Grab a coffee and a chat with other riders. Then head out of Robo to Bowral, about 5mins after crossing the train line turn left into Pearsons Lane. This takes you the back roads via the Fitzroy Dam. You then join up (take a left) on the road leading to Kangaroo Valley. Head out of KV towards Nowra/Bomaderry. From here turn left to Berry. Out of Berry head to Kiama then take the Jamberoo turn off. Follow the winding country roads into Jamberoo.

From Jamberoo keep heading back to Albion Park.

Ride Description

Another great ride through some beautiful scenery that the New Zealand has to offer the adventurous rider.

Directions

Head north out of Blenheim on SH 1 after 9.5 km’s you reach Tuamarina. Turning right onto Hunter Rd you make your way the coast and the collection of huts and houses known as Rarangi. From here the Gravel begins along the Port Underwood Rd. The Road twists and turns through native bush on a usually good gravel surface (bends having deep natural camber) passing through eight beautiful little Bays on its way to the hamlet of Port Underwood. Reaching Port Underwood you begin the second phase of the ride as the gravel stops and the tar seal begins and what a road it is as you constantly move from one bend to another. Your tyres will be working hard, your pegs will be scraping and the smile on your face will be so wide that it hurts. All too soon you find yourself in Picton. (For More Bend continue along Queen Charlotte Drive 340 bend in 34km’s).

From little things, big things grow. The iconic Australian song by Paul Kelly, epitomising the Aboriginal Land Rights Struggle sums up the Albury-Wodonga Border Bikefest.
From humble beginnings, the event is now established and poised to develop into a national event of significance.

The Bikefest encourages motorcyclists to display their bikes to the public. Last year, 200 bikes were registered for display and there were some remarkable examples of two-wheeled exotica among them. Over 1,500 members of the public paid to enter the display site off the Lincoln Causeway, near the Murray River between Albury and Wodonga.

The Wodonga City Council has got right behind the event. The Bikefest is currently a joint venture between the Wodonga Lions Cub and the Albury-Wodonga branch of the Ulysses Club Inc., an Australia-wide social organisation for mature and passionate motorcycle riders.

The aim of the show is to exhibit a range of bikes covering vintage, veteran, classic, custom bikes and to bring trade / motorcycle dealers to showcase their wares. Ulysses Branch president, Rex Beard, is astounded at the success of the Bikefest.

“The public support is terrific and I think many people were pleasantly surprised to learn that not all motor cyclists are fire-breathing, child-eating lunatics”, Ulysses Branch President Rex Beard says tongue in cheek. On the day $8,000.00 was raised for charity.

What started out as a very casual social gathering has grown to the point where it could easily become a national event? “There’s nothing like it anywhere in the Albury Wodonga area, ideally we’re placed halfway between Melbourne and Sydney and riders are poised to get right behind it,”

Beard says a feature of the 2010 event was embryonic trade support and the organising committee is approaching national concessionaires to get behind the event. “This event has the potential to attract people from all over the country.” He says the committee is working on a rage of attractions for the 2011 show and is searching for a keynote speaker.

Eastern Wheatbelt region loop in Western Australia.

Ride Description

An all day ride through the Eastern Wheatbelt. Enjoy the quiet country roads. Take in the vast expanses of green and yellow crops. Go during spring and enjoy the full display of wildflowers.

Directions

Head out towards Northam on the Great Eastern Hwy but dont enter the town, use the bypass. Take the turn left on the Goomalling rd, continue onto Goomalling, once there continue through town on Main st, then turn left a couple of km out of town on Wongan rd. Ride onto Wongan hills. Turn right taking the Koorda Wongan Hills rd until you reach Cadoux. Continue through until Koorda. Take the Koorda Billfinch rd, turn left onto Gabbin Trayning rd into Gabbin and onto Bencubbin. From there, south on the Bencubbin Kellerberrin rd, through Trayning and onto Kellerberrin. Continue south on Kellerberrin Yoting rd until you hit the Bruce Rock Quairading rd, turn right.

Ride on through Quairading until York. From York take the Great Southern hwy to The Lakes. Turn left back onto Great Eastern hwy until the finish in Mundaring.

Starting in Geradine you take the road opposite the Police station on the bottom half of the high street and follow SH 79 up out of the town. A one off, absolute beast of a Chopper valued at $120,000 and created by the OCC father and son team before their infamous split, will be on display at Harley City through October.

This awesome bike was built in 2004 and includes a Nub (www.nubgrafix.com) ‘monster paint job’, a Russ Wernimont gas tank, 131” H&L Engine, Baker 6 Speed left side drive transmission and a 240 inch rear tyre with a six up four out Rolling Thunder frame. To say the bike is powerful is an understatement – it packs 150HP.

The bike was created by Paul Teutel Senior and Paul Junior in response to a brief from Valvoline to create a “big, bold” bike for a nationwide sales promotion in the USA. The bike toured the States, tempting the two-wheeled fraternity to collect tokens for a chance at owning this masterful piece of machinery.

Ride Summary

This route has got to be one of Canterbury’s most popular motorcycling roads. (Known locally as the Akaroa GP)

Ride Description

This route is just as good if not better in the reverse direction. A beautiful piece of winding road takes you first up to the summit and the Hill top Tavern with great coffee and a chance to take in the views of the bay. You descend quickly into an extinct volcanic which now forms a natural inlet and sheltered harbour. Once you reach sea level you follow the Shaw line twisting around many small valleys and climbing over a couple of small peninsulas. You eventually find yourself in the small town of Akaroa. Originally a French settlement it has kept its French feeling even today. If you follow the road through the town you will find a smell key side with what is reported to be the best Fish and Chips in the South Island.

This short but entertaining ride takes you from the city of Dunedin along the northern Shaw of the Otago Peninsula to the Royal Albatross breeding Colony at Harington Point.

Ride Description

Also accessed through the Albatross centre is the disappearing gun, this Second World War artillery piece uses hydraulics enabling it to be raised for firing and then lowered into the hillside for cover and reloading. For a variation to the return journey, turn off the coastal road at Portobello. The road climbs steeply all the way up to Larnachs Castle. Follow the signs to Portobello on this twisting road just a meter or so from the water. From Portobello just continue until the end of the road, here you will find a large parking area and a short stroll will see you at the Albatross centre (If you time it right Jan – Mar you will be able to see the seasons new arrivals).

This route has got to be one of the world’s greatest motorcycling roads. A beautiful piece of winding road takes through native forest deep into the heart of the Fiord land National Park.

Ride Description

Starting with sweeping bends between mirror like lakes then ventures deep into native forest. It is not long before you find yourself riding through deep valleys with hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the cliffs on either side. Stopping for a moment at the Hommer Tunnel prepare yourself for a challenging decent through the mountain, you emerge in the middle of a high col with the road cut into the cliff. A few hairpin bends enable you to be back at the floor of another forested valley for the last 45 km’s of the ride. Ensure you take the opportunity to cruise the last section of the fiord with one of the many small cruise ships (about 2hours). The journey back is even better that the way in with the tunnel now becoming one of the high lights, as you accelerate up the tunnel with the sound of your exhaust and the exit up ahead it’s like being shot out of a canon.

The best way to get to Red Cliffs from Mildura. Lots of corners of varying speeds. A couple if bumps in some corners and watch out for gravel. All in all top fun and one of the best bike roads in Sunraysia.

Ride heads out of Mildura on Deakin Ave before turning a right onto Seventh St East connecting to Cureton Ave. Ride finishes in the town of Red Cliffs.

A beautiful piece of winding road takes through native forest and follows the banks of the Buller River up a beautiful steep sided gorge. The road cuts it way through vertical cliffs as you head deeper into the Southern Alps.

The route follows SH6 between Westport and Murchison and is a motorcyclist dream (in both directions). At the mid way point (46 km’s) there is junction with the east bound road becoming SH 69 to Reefton. At this junction ensure that you make the turn and follow SH 6. (DO NOT TAKE THE ROAD TO REEFTON). On the eastern section of the route, there is a swing bridge and flying fox spanning the river this provides a great opportunity to take five and reflect on the ride.

A great little trail with all you need from streams to ford, hairpin bends and steep sided valleys finished off with great views of the Southern Alps.

Leave SH1 at the Bridge over the Hurunui River following the valley until the road splits. follow the right hand trail for another 6km’s to the next major track junction. From here you follow the road ahead into what looks like a private farm entrance. Now all you do is follow your noise up the valley over a small pass then continue until the final summit grants you views of the Alps. Dropping down the hill you meet the tar seal at a cross roads. Here to go straight over finding Culverdon in 4-5kms.

The Mt Imlay road is a 58 km long stretch of logging road that runs from the Monaro Highway (near Rockton), almost down to the sea and the Princes Highway (Narrabarba), near the Victoria border.

Ride Description

This is an exceptional road for motorcyclists, featuring big, wide, sweeping corners that can be taken at speed, and fantastic scenery. The road surface is usually very good, but it can be chewed up by log trucks so beware. Riders who don’t mind riding on occasionally slippery dirt can take the turnoff to Pericoe and ride backroads and forest tracks down to Eden. This is an active logging road, however, so riders must be prepared to meet log trucks on the road.

Directions

The western end of the Mt. Imlay Rd. joins up with the Monaro Highway between Cann River and Bombala. Watch for the sign for the turnoff to Eden. The turnoff at the Princes Highway end, though marked, is easy to miss since it is easy to mistake for a forest track.

Ride Description

A fantastic combination of bends and great views of the Marlbough Sounds. This route contains so many twists and turns that you will find yourself begging for a straight section. 340 bends in 34km’s and this includes a 7 km straight.
